 Like the offshore environment, process plants in the petrochemical industry are considered extremely hazardous environments due to presence of hydrocarbons and fuels. Industrial accidents involving large explosions have resulted in severe injury and death in some extreme cases. Protecting personnel, public safety and ensuring against financial loss becomes the responsibility of the petrochemical facility and its management.
